Am Asia-Snack spielen fünfzehnjährige Mädchen mit Amy-Winehouse-Frisuren an ihren Handys. „Das hätte es früher nicht gegeben“, stellen wir fest, „und S-Bahn fahren war damals auch nicht üblich!“ Dafür konnte in der U-Bahn selbstverständlich geraucht werden, erinnert sich Pyka, als wir in die Braunschweiger Straße einbiegen, wo er 1973, siebzehnjährig, seine erste Wohnung bezog. Er kam aus der Gegend um Salzgitter. „Das pure Grauen der Sechziger“, fasst er zusammen, „Betonstraßen mit Teernähten, Peitschenlampen, Kartonhäuser, gespenstische Leere. Als ich endlich in Neukölln wohnte, kam ich mir vor wie in New York.“

It amazes me that Murdoch and Brill and the Paywall Team at the Times continue to believe that people are prepared to pay for news online — despite the recent survey showing that 80 percent of U.S. news consumers say they „wouldn’t bother“ to read news and magazines online if the content were no longer free.
Sure, free news content is not a perfect system but it’s a lot like what Churchill said about democracy: it „is the worst form of government except all the others that have been tried.“ That’s the reality. Free content is not without problems. But it’s here to stay, and publishers need to come to terms with that and figure out how to make it work for them.

“Life is an adventure of our own design,” says Patti Smith, “intersected by fate in a series of lucky and unlucky accidents.” Like her heroes Arthur Rimbaud and Bob Dylan, part of Patti Smith’s mystique has always been that she’s elusive and hard to pin down. Before Patti Smith: Dream of Life, the feature film debut of fashion photographer Steven Sebring, it was difficult to find Smith on screen outside of concert footage and some early collaborations with Robert Mapplethorpe. It’s likely that Smith would have said “no” to a known filmmaker aiming to make her the subject of a conventional documentary.

über den UdK-newsletter kommen manchmal die obskuresten Anfragen, manche lese ich schon gleich gar nicht, aber die mail mit dem Betreff: virgins needed fand ich dann doch interessant. Da sucht also ein iranischer Künstler 72 Jungfrauen für eine performance am 19.12 am Potsdamer Platz. Leider kann ich damit nicht dienen – obwohl, nachprüfen wird er das eh nicht können. Also, wer sich irgendwie angesprochen fühlen solllte, kann sich bei Shahram Entekhabi hier als Teilnehmerin anmelden. Ansonsten habe ich mich schon gefragt, wie wohl das Geschlechterverhältnis im Publikum bei so einer Veranstaltung aussehen wird, hüstel…………
